Hi My name is Janet Matthews. I live in Hereford in the UK with my husband. I have 3 grown up children and 3 beautiful grandchildren. I took early retirement from teaching 5 years ago and have spent the last 3 years revisiting my passion for health and nutrition. I originally trained with the Institute of Optimum Nutrition in London in 1988-9 and have more recently completed a year and a half with the College of Natural Nutrition in Bristol, and completed part 1 of the Metabolic Typing training with Healthexcel.

Although I no longer practice as a nutritionist I am now following my other passion of imparting knowledge (once a teacher always a teacher!!).  I have now created a couple of blogs that will cover a wide range of health issues and  how to treat them naturally without the need for drugs.

Your Healthy Options will deal with all matters pertaining to health and wellbeing and in particular will offer help and suggestions for people who are struggling to lose weight. I have worked for 2 weight loss companies and also ran a slimming world class in my local town for 2 years. I have also given advice to many people who have been struggling with weight loss. My experience has helped me to know what works and what doesn’t and how to avoid the expensive mistakes that many people make.

My work as a teacher was primarily with children with behavioral problems. This led me to research ways of improving behavior through dietary intervention. More recently I have been researching the link between diet and psychological disorders such as autism and schizophrenia and hope to offer advice and suggestions as to how these conditions may be improved through nutritional management
